The year 2023 in the vineyard

As I reflect on the events of the past year, it is easy to focus on the challenges that tested our resolve. The year 2023 put us in front of obstacles in the vineyard in the form of unpredictable weather. The combination of intense heat and heavy rainfall led to a higher incidence of disease, which ultimately affected our crops. Despite these adversities, we found a silver lining in the form of unexpected success. Although our overall yield may have been lower than expected (20 percent), the quality of the grapes we were able to harvest exceeded our expectations. This result serves as a powerful reminder that success often comes in unconventional forms.

ERUPTED

One of the highlights of the year was our participation in the prestigious wine event Erupted in the Levy Synagogue on November 18. On the grounds of this beautiful historical place, we had the opportunity to showcase our natural wines together with esteemed producers not only from our region, but from all over Slovakia, Hungary, Italy, and France. The experience was not only a celebration of our craft, but also a chance to connect with fellow enthusiasts and industry professionals. The atmosphere was completed by a string quartet with its wonderful musical performance, and later at the afterparty, drum and bass DJ B-Complex performed. I rate the event 10/10. Great.

FROM THE STREET TO THE CELLAR

We also took part in the wine event in the village of Mýtne Ludany in Ludanské vinice, organized by OZ Na troch kopcoch Tekova a Hontu, which was in its 6th year and is already a popular tradition in the region at the end of August. Local winemakers meet here to offer their chilled wines together with delicious food against the background of a great atmosphere. It is an excellent opportunity for wine lovers to experience the best of the region while enjoying the pleasant atmosphere. In addition to these two events, we participated in many tastings, public celebrations and private tastings.

New website

In addition to working in the vineyard and participating in events, we also managed to launch a new website for our winery. This initiative represents a significant step forward in our efforts to connect with our audience and share our story with the world.

Summary

As already mentioned, we often tend to overlook small things over time, whether in our vineyard, work, sports or personal life, and take them as routine events. Therefore, as the year draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on 2023 and appreciate the small and significant events that have influenced and paved the way to 2024. Therefore, as we turn our gaze to the outlook for 2024, we do so with a sense of anticipation and optimism. I wish you happy new year! :) Jan Adami
